Edgarian's sharp, beautiful prose captures the essence of the human condition in all its pain and glory." -The Daily Beast "Both an epic love story and a reflection of social anthropology in America today, Three Stages of Amazement is a gracefully rendered narrative of the inevitable joys and heartaches we face in adulthood. "Edgarian ( Rise the Euphrates) spares no emotion in this big, lovely second novel about decent people falling apart under the demands that there be more than 24 hours in a day and more than parental determination to juggle life's realities against the heart's desire." ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() I really think all Christians ought to hear this story, especially those who don't know much about what's going on in other parts of the world. It burdened me to pray more for the people of North Korea, especially Christ's followers who have been imprisoned and are enduring unspeakable suffering for their faith. The story is gritty and heartbreaking in places, but at the same time touching and inspiring. Have you listened to any of Kathy Garver’s other performances before? How does this one compare?ĭid you have an extreme reaction to this book? Because the girls have secrets that make them look suspicious-the prank they'd played on a murdered student, their having snuck into their teacher's house just before he was killed-each is reluctant to tell the authorities what she knows. Shortly thereafter, someone began committing murders in exactly the manners named. The follow-up to gossipy thriller The Perfectionists (2014) begins with its protagonists reeling from a teacher's death.Ī prologue helpfully brings new and returning readers up to speed: Mackenzie, Julie, Caitlin, Parker, and Ava started talking in English class about whom they'd like to see killed and how they'd do the deed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cast any semblance of routine police procedure to the wind. I swear that, if we tried a drinking game in which we threw back a shot each time a Hannah Swensen/Lake Eden/recipe cliche occurred, we’d be dead from alcohol poisoning by the end of the second chapter. The Tarot has held countless meanings to countless readers over the course of its existence, but The Contemplative Tarot offers a uniquely Christian interpretation of the cards, including Bible verses and meditations on each of their spiritual meanings. In The Contemplative Tarot, author Brittany Muller draws deeply on Christian tradition and theology to create a tarot practice built on spiritual reflection, prayer, and worship. The Tarot can become an unexpected tool in this journey, inviting us to pause, contemplate, and find insight and wisdom in our walk.
